Tomb Raider Survival Review

Video Game

My hubby recently purchased Tomb Raider Survival/Collector's Edition as he had heard good things about it.  We are fans of the franchise, so we thought we would give it a try.

I am not really into first person shooter games, but always liked the Tomb Raider games since there was a lot of puzzles and it was more about that then the shooting.

This is supposed to be how Laura Croft becomes a Tomb Raider, and becomes who she is.  So it's not like the normal ones.  It is much more a first person shooter than I usually like.  Hubby really likes first person shooters, so he was quite happy with it.

I do have to admit if I had realized it was going to be a first person shooter I wouldn't have wanted to stick around while he played.  But I liked that there was a lot of story amongst the shooting and there was a lot of the same puzzles in the tombs, and you had to figure out where to go, and ways to solve the problems she came up against.

A lot of the previous games we found the puzzles were nearly impossible to figure out.  You had to spend hours stuck in an area trying to figure out what piece had to move, and where it had to go, and sometimes there was so many possibilities it was hard to figure out.

However, in Survival, I found that it was actually easier to figure out, but not overly easy.  When you were stuck you could press the button to "use your instincts" and it would light up several of the puzzle pieces so you could then figure out how to put them together.

We thoroughly enjoyed playing the game, and there are many options to play multi-player versions as well.

If you are a fan of first person shooters, or of Tomb Raider I would recommend this.  I would be remiss if I didn't warn you that it is a kind of gory, and has a lot of curse words.  It is not really good for little kids.  We played after the boys were in bed.

  1. This is a great article. I love Tomb Raider, it is a very good game and I have played every version. Video games are so realistic these days, which makes them very fun to play. However, I have to say I am still an old classic arcade game buff. I just remember playing the ms pacman arcade machine when I was young, those were the days. Even though the graphics were bad, games like Pacman, Donkey Kong, and Mario will still always be some of the funniest video games ever created.
