As we start to spend more and more time indoors, and the weather gets cooler, it's time to start thinking about board games, and ways to have fun as a family. Also as the holidays begin to approach we will all be looking for some fun party style games as well.
Outset Media sent us a fun game called Pickles to Penguins! to check out.
Pickles to Penguins is a super simple game to set up. Basically you have a deck of cards, that you deal out to each person playing. They then display 5 in front of them, and then there are 2 cards placed in the middle.
This is where the fun begins! The dealer yells GO!
The mission is to get rid of all of your cards, but you have to find a link to the current cards that are in play. The trick is to find something plausible that others won't dispute. Whoever gets their cards put out first wins.
The game is simple in concept but it can be a challenge to actually find a link. The games is for 2+ players, and ages 8+. My 9 year and I were able to play no problem, then the 7 year old join in, and some of his connections were a little weak, but we let him have it, and some were a little repetitive. When the 5yo wanted to join in, he wasn't understanding the idea so he was just shouting out the name of what was on the card. LOL It was all well and good until all of the started doing that.
I loved that we could set it up, and put it away in a minute or two. And the concept is easy to explain to someone new, but that game is fun and has a challenge.
Overall, this is a hit in our house.
