We have also discovered, along the way, some really awesomely geeky fiber artists, who have created some of these patterns!
Two of these awesome blogging geeky artist gals is Lattes And Llamas! These lovely ladies have created a shop where you can buy some of their patterns, and also a fun blog, and website full of all thinks knitty and nerdy! And we love them! Here is an excerpt from their About Me section, be sure to read it all on their site though they are hilarious:
Once upon a time, all the way back in 2000 and late, Megan-Anne and Jac lived in a world of knitted scarves and crocheted granny square blankets made of acrylic yarn. It was a sad and scratchy time full of snapped plastic hooks and needles. Regardless of the minuscule wool percentage in their yarn, they delved into design.
When they moved from Indiana to Pennsylvania in 2009 and stepped foot inside their first local yarn store, Megan-Anne and Jac were exposed to a whole new world of softer and more colorful fibers. They opened Knerdy Knits, an Etsy store that sold one-of-a-kind geeky knitted and crocheted items. However, as Megan-Anne finished her postbac in late 2013, they decided to take things in a different direction and formed Lattes & Llamas. They began selling their nerdy and classic literature inspired patterns to other knitters/crocheters and founded/designed the Geek-A-Long.
Born from a highly under-caffeinated trip to Starbucks and what could be described as a lost bet, the Geek-A-Long exploded from a grassroots projects to raise awareness for Child’s Play Charity to a worldwide knitting sensation. With participants on every continent and a lively Ravelry group, the Geek-A-Long grows every day and appeals to both experienced knitters and bright-eyed newbies ready to buy their first pair of needles. Through videos and picture tutorials, Megan-Anne and Jac enjoy taking fiber-virgins from making their first slip knot to doing advanced techniques such as double-sided knitting or turning a heel.
Our favourite part is their Geek-A-Longs! Imagine getting a new square to knit all the time, and by the end you have an amazing afghan with all your geeky love on it!! Amazing!
So who is your favourite geeky blogger we need to know about?
