Dawn Shadow Xbox One Wireless Controller

Our family plays Xbox together regularly and since I am the only girl in the family I tend to turn all my characters, and avatars into a girly representation of me.

Last year we got the boys an Xbox 360 and each one got their own controllers and my hubby owned all the other controllers. He has the Xboxes, and I have the Wii.  So the boys kept saying how come you don't have your own controller Mommy?

I had been eyeing pink ones for a while, but nothing seemed to work out, and I just was resigned to use hubby's regular boring black ones.  Then this Christmas hubby bought me the Dawn Shadow Xbox One Wireless Controller.

My first thought was how pretty it is! Seriously, it's pretty, but cool too!  The boys were happy that I have one of my own, and they all declared it to be a very cool controller!

Once I took it out of the box, I realized it actually has a textured grip, so it's easier to hold on to.  No risk of it slipping out of my hand, which I am always sort of afraid that I will drop hubby's.  Not that I have, but it feels like I could.

The has a faded magenta metallic finish so it's not overly shiny and it's not like a bubble gum pink either.  Of course you can use custom button mapping and it has improved wireless range.  That wasn't a big deal for us since we aren't that far from the tv, and never had an issue with the range anyway. But it's good to know that it has that feature in case I take it with me, or we rearrange our set up.  Also it has a headset jack so you can plug in any compatible headset, but I haven't needed that either.

If you use Windows 10 PCs and/or tablets, it has Bluetooth capabilities, that you can look into utilizing.  This is not a feature I need either as I am a fairly basic Xbox gamer.  I just wanted a cool looking controller that would be easy to hold and would stand out from the other controllers. This fit the bill for me completely.

It was easy to set up, and hubby had it working with in minutes of being taken out of the box!  If you want a pink controller, but want something that also looks really sleek and cool and is great for gaming consider this one!

Top 10 Halo Campaign Missions

Halo is one of those games we play at our house regularly.  My hubby has every game in the series, and we play together.

I found this Top 10 Halo Campaign Missions video interesting, and thought I would share it for all the Halo fans out there.

Which is your favourite mission?

Skylanders SuperChargers Xbox One Version

As a mom of 3 boys, everything is a race or competition; from eating, to getting ready for school.  As a woman who loves NASCAR I like playing racing games. That means that any racing games are pretty big around here.  All our racing games were for the Wii until we were sent the Skylanders SuperChargers Racing Starter Pack for the Xbox One.

We have tried out the SuperChargers for the Wii, and the boys have really liked it, and play it regularly.  So they were way too excited to now have it on the Xbox One too!

The boys are very excited to have extra pieces for their game, and to have another vehicle to include in their races!

The boys love having choices of what kind of vehicles they can race, and that if you get more collectibles, you have more options in the races.

The one thing that we find tricky with these types of games are that they are 2 player, and we have 3 boys. That sometimes can cause us some problems, but we make sure they all get a turn. Sometimes the older boys will hand off the controller to the younger one of their own free will. That makes things pretty easy.  Also there is always the option of letting the play when the others are already busy.

Getting started was pretty easy.  Just take it out of the box, plug in the pad, put in the disk and turn on the system.  The game walks you throw a little briefing of what is happening and then tells you when to put each item on the game pad.

You can choose 3 different vehicle types, thus leading to different fun and challenging racing events.
We started out with the Land races, but then the boys went on to both Sea and Sky races after.  You are flying, driving, or diving through all of the new Skylands racing worlds.  In most racing type games you get just certain types of vehicles, but now depending on which ones you have purchased, you can pop it on there, and it's an option. They are making the vehicles like another character in the same

There are different modes, and it is an expansive racing adventure, meaning you can unlock more and do more as you go along.  There is even an online Multiplayer mode where you can play with your friends.

Additionally, you can now take your Skylanders adventure with you for a true on-the-go experience via iPad, and for the first time ever, with iPod, iPhone and Apple TV!

We like that we got different characters with this starter pack then the other ones, so we can pop them on either unit and have more options to play.  The other great thing is that for Birthdays or Christmas people can just grab a new character depending on their budget and gift that!
