Disney Infinity Starter Kit Review

Our boys love video games, but finding ones that are good for ages 3, 5, and 7 is a bit hard. I find most are 8+.   So we are always on the look out for ones that are great for kids.

We have heard about the Disney Infinity, and wanted to try it out for the boys.  Our middle son is the real gamer in the group.  He would play video games all day every day if we let him.  But we don't.  I think it's because he is very active so when he is ready to sit for a few minutes he watches TV, or wants to video game.

We think the Disney Infinity is a great fit for him.  We were sent the XBox Disney Infinity Starter kit, which comes with the XBox game, the base to place the characters on and 3 characters.

We set it up to try it, and for hubby and I the intro was a little long LOL, but we kept saying the boys would love it for sure!  It talks all about how you can use your imagination to go places in this world!  And that imagination grows and grows and turns into a real tangible thing if you use it to guide you it can be a valuable tool.  All the time you are doing this, you are learning to control the characters, following along and helping out the characters.

You don't have to play just on the console though, they have 3 different ways to play: Console, Online, and iPad.

On the console you have a base where you put the characters.  Then depending on what characters you have on the base, you can go to that adventure.  The only problem that we saw right off the bat is we have 3 boys, and 1 character from each adventure.  Which means it is only a one player game, until we get more characters.

We are asking our families to pick up some extra characters!

Once you get past the part of building the world with your imagination, you have a basic understanding of how to play the game, and moving the characters around.  All of a sudden the screen changes and this happens:

and your base lights up! Even hubby and I got excited about that! LOL

The story line is quite interesting, and of course the graphics and animation are very well done.  Completely what you would expect from anything with the Disney label.

There is also a toy box area where you can you can make your own worlds, create games with your own rules, or build places that only exist in your imagination. When you're done, you can knock it all down and start again.

Overall, I think this is going to be a huge hit this Christmas for our boys!  And of course, it is added to our Gift Guide! Be sure to check it out HERE, we are adding sections in segments!  So don't miss out on the fun!!!

  1. Thanks for the review. My son has asked for this for Christmas so I'm interested to read what other people think about it.

    1. Thanks! I know my boys are going to love it! We weren't so excited about the beginning part ourselves, but the boys will for sure. And the game play is pretty fun.
