The Voting Game
I am on the hunt for some fun gifts for the people on my list, and I know we have a few friends and family who love entertaining and playing games. I thought The Voting Game might be a great gift, and a super fun game to play.
The Voting Game is a party game that uncovers uncovers the hilarious truth behind your friendships.
This game is made for players aged 17 and up, and for 5-10 players.
Who will be the hardest to recognize in 10 years?
Who would lose an election because of something they did in high school?
Whose Google search history would you most like to see?

Christmas break is gaming time
Why does it always feel like our lives are so busy. Our family loves gaming, whether it is card games, board games, or video games, we all love gaming, and playing together. Sometimes life gets in the way and we don't have as much time for gaming as we would like.
During the Christmas break, while hubby is off work, the boys are off school, and my businesses have slowed down, we take more time to do things together like baking, crafting and of course gaming. Over the holiday season, we tried some new games, and of course played some old favourites.
Here are some picture highlights, although we also played other games not posted here! Some I have written about recently or in the past too:
Did you get any gaming in over the holidays? If so, what did you play?

Our Top 4 Kid Friendly Card Games
In the Knit Wit house, we play a lot of games together as a family, or myself and the boys. As a parent sometimes it is hard to find games that you don't mind playing, but is also kid-friendly. We have some basic ones that we play on a regular basis here, and I know Deanna plays different games with her kids! So be sure to check out here posts on kid friendly games as well!
Here are the 4 we play the most in our house:
1. Go Fish - Yes I know you are thinking one of 2 things: 1. DUH I could've figured that one out on my own. OR 2. That isn't all that fun for us adults. Both things are true, but we are looking for kid friendly games, and ones you won't hate playing. Plus it is fast which to me is the key sometimes. The boys are happy that I played with them and like playing. If it didn't take a super long time, or they haven't lost their minds, we can play several rounds. The best parts of this are that it is easy for a kid, it helps them with their numbers and matching, and you can get through it rather fast before boredom or excitement sets in.
2. WAR - Ok this is one of those ones that can be long, but it is super easy, and mindless. It helps the kids know which is higher, lower, and the same. You can either just play with 2 of you by splitting the deck in half, or you can deal it as many players as you want! It's just plain easy.
3. UNO - This is one of those games, kids or no kids, I enjoy playing this game. The boys love playing, and hubby and I actually enjoy it. It's a classic game, and it took a bit of explaining for the boys, but there are times when we are laughing so hard we have tears in our eyes. It is fun, and has basic strategy play. It helps the boys start thinking about strategy, and how to keep someone else winning.
4. Skip-Bo - I taught my boys to play this in a few minutes! This is another game that I enjoy playing on a regular basis, with or without the kids. My youngest learned this game in a few minutes, and it is something that they can play strategies with and actually beat me.

SkipBo Card Game
When I was a kid, my parents got us the SKIP BO Card Game, and we would all play together. However, whenever we went to visit family far away, my Mom would grab all our card games, and packs of cards, and pack them for us to play.
My younger sister and I would grab all the cards and play games, as they didn't always have fun things for us to do. We would play for hours, and make our own rules.
When I was living on my own, I bought my own pack, and I have played many times over the years. This is a simple game:
Out of a 162-card deck, two to six players are each dealt 20-card "stockpiles"; the first one to deplete their pile wins. Competing either alone or in teams, players draw from a central pile and stack their cards sequentially onto one of four "build" piles (for example, an eight onto a seven, a three onto a two), using plentiful Skip-Bo wild cards to break up static situations. Deceptively simple and ingeniously designed, this classic game offers plenty of strategizing opportunities, or it can just make a nice backdrop to socializing and munching on potato chips. --Paul Hughes
Basically you take turns and try to get rid of your stock pile. Whoever gets rid of their stock pile is the winner. There are Skip-Bo cards which are basically wild cards, and as long as you can count to 12, you can figure out this game.
I introduced this game to my 3 boys, and they really took to it. My youngest was 4, when we started playing, and while he doesn't always remember to get rid of his stockpile cards, he has no problem playing. He really enjoys it, and needs only minor help as we go through it.
It is a fairly quick game, and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
What other games would you suggest?
