Twi'lek Jedi Knight Crochet Hat Pattern

Photo Credit: Stitching Up a Storm
Our house is filled to the brim with a lot of Star Wars fans!  This Twi'lek Jedi Knight Crochet Pattern is amazing!  What a genius idea, and so cool!

The instructions by Stitching Up a Storm look very clearly laid out, but I don't know how to crochet, so take that with a grain of salt! I do know how to read knitting patterns, so I like when I see lots of steps and descriptions along the way.

Knits For Nerds

With the holidays approaching faster than we are ready for, it's time to start thinking presents, so we are highlighting some for you!

If you are a knitter, and have nerds or geeks on your list.... then you need the Knits for Nerds book!  Knit them something awesome for Christmas.  If, however, you have a knitter on your list....then you should purchase Knits for Nerds for them as a gift!!

This book was created specifically for people who love: sci-fi, fantasy, comics, and manga!

 The patterns for 30 iconic clothing and accessory items inspired by popular TV shows, books, films, comics, and more--including Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Firefly--are presented alongside full-color photographs showcasing completed projects, such as:

* Lieutenant Uhura's sexy Star Trek minidress

* Hobbit feet slippers

* Firefly-inspired scarf, socks, hat, and jacket

* Tank Girl socks

* Hermione Granger's secret beaded bag

* Manga-inspired leg warmers

* The Big Bang Theory-inspired his and hers sweater-vests

* Lord of the Rings-inspired shrug

In addition to a wardrobe of costume finery, hobbyists will also find instructions for practical projects such as an e-reader cover or a laptop bag crafted of checkered fabric that serves double-duty as a chessboard and carryall, as well as patterns for plush toys inspired by Star Trek, robots, and the comic book Squee! Wear (and knit!) your nerdiness on your sleeve with Knits for Nerds.

Overall this is on my list because:
1. I am on knitter, and always love knitting patterns to have on hand.
2. I am a nerd and want some of these!
3. I have nerds on my list who would go nuts for some of things made for them!

CuteZee Knitting Game Video

As a knitter I am often online looking for knitting patterns that I can make.  I usually stumble across a lot of cute crochet patterns too.  So I often share them on my other blog as if I am looking for patterns, others are too and why not have some easy to find for them?

I was looking for some video game knitting patterns to share on here, as those usually gain a lot of interest too.  I typed in a search, and well the first site that came up was ours, so that was pretty cool. Then that's when things took a weird turn.  I saw some videos.... apparently there is a girls only games website (which has weird games like Barbie hair salon, and do people's nails). But it also has a craft game section, and voila here is a video for one of their knitting games:

As a girl who likes knitting while watching NASCAR races, and lives in a house full of males who don't want to watch NASCAR races, I find this website sadly lacking in options of real games.  Yes, I get that girls like these things, but I think we like other stuff too.

Oh and this knitting game?  I got bored after 2 minutes, but I am not a little girl so maybe they would like it more? I would rather just pick up the real needles!

Retro Twister

I don't think I am old, I really really don't, but sometimes there are things that remind me I am.  Ok today's example is older than me, I promise it is, but it's the version I remember the best (I think we had an old copy)....it's the Retro Series Twister Game.

The boys and I received the latest version previously, and while the boys love it, I missed the one I grew up on.  Yes, I like the new version, but I am a classic girl, so this version is much more my style!

Hasbro wanted to celebrate their 50th birthday this year but opening up the time machine and going way back to 1966! This meant they created the Retro Series, and came out with the 1966 version of the Twister game.  They have several games in the Retro Series currently, and you can find them here.

Twister is the stockin' feet game that will twist you and your friends up in knots. The mat and spinner look like they did when the game first took America by storm! Shake off your shoes, spread out your polka-dot Twister mat, and then grab a partner and get twisted - all over again!

Do you know anyone who really loves Twister?  Does it bring back some amazing memories for you, and some friends? Why not crochet this Twister Inspired Afghan?

There is also this super cute kid craft where you make a Twister board with your kids handprints!  This would be a great version for grandparents!
